A father-and-son-owned business has 'reinvented the wheel' by launching a new type of wheel to the agricultural market.

Will Brock is director of Brocks Wheel & Tyre in Thaxted, while his son Eugene is the company's business development director.

The new wheel, called the 3S, is the first wheel brand the company has launched in 15 years.

Aiming to embody Brock's key principles of being 'strong, smart and safe', the 3S wheels can be used on tractors and have been developed based on the need for increased safety on farms and providing customers with the best aids to productivity.

All 3S wheels are compatible with location and pressure sensors, making them 'smart', while safety has been enhanced with wheel nut indicators and pressure valve guards.

Brock's uses a type of tyre called Bridgestone's VX-TRACTOR tyre alongside the wheel.

To demonstrate the wheel and tyre's performance, Eugene made the journey back to Essex from the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh in his John Deere 6330 tractor, calling in on 22 tractor dealerships en route to showcase the 3S.

Will said: "We chose Bridgestone because we know that their tyres are some of the very best in the industry, offering a number of advantages including longevity, comfort and superior traction, at no expense to the soil."

Bridgestone's agricultural sales manager Stephen Lamb said: "While it wasn’t working in the field, it was high intensity roadwork, moving some 6,000kgs of metal - steering, accelerating and braking over 590 miles of the UK’s A & B Road Network.
