Retirees are being invited to dust off their best buttoned outfits for a Pearly King and Queen event in Great Dunmow.
The event takes place at Stane House retirement living development in High Street on Friday, October 27.
The Pearly tradition, which has become a symbol of London's working class, was started by a Victorian street-sweeper in the 1870s, who decided to embellish his clothes with pearly buttons - which was then passed down through generations of families.
Guests can assemble on the day to catch a glimpse of the Pearly King and Queen, as well as enjoying live music and a Cockney-inspired spread of homemade pie and mash.

Sam Watkins, divisional sales manager at McCarthy Stone, said: "Our Pearly King and Queen Event is a fantastic way to bring local retirees together and for them to experience the diverse and welcoming community that sits at the heart of Stane House, and join us for a day of entertainment and cultural heritage."
