A Christmas Bazaar is returning to Dunmow this year for the first time since 2019 - having been put on hold due to the pandemic.

The event will take place at Our Lady and St Anne Line Church Hall at 9.30am on Saturday, December 2, and will run until 1pm.

Mayor of Great Dunmow Cllr Alex Armstrong will open the event, and - weather permitting - visitors will be entertained on arrival by a local choir.

Seasonal stalls will sell gift hampers for all ages, perfume and toiletries, groceries, jewellery, Christmas cards, homemade cakes and more.

Father Christmas will be around to greet children, and there will be several raffles - the main one with a first prize of £250. Refreshments will also be available.

Entry is free and stalls accept cash only.

The Christmas Bazaar is the church's biggest fundraiser of the year, and is also the town's longest running event of its type, dating back to the 1940s.

Proceeds go towards the upkeep of the church's buildings in Great Dunmow and Hatfield Broad Oak.

A spokesperson said: "The local community has always given great support to the Bazaar and it is hoped that they will do so again this year and make it the success it has been in the past."
