Artists of all ages have been named the winners of a competition to create art inspired by the Dunmow Flitch Trials.

The Flitch Trials are an ancient custom dating back 900 years, where married couples must prove to a jury of six maidens and six bachelors that in 'twelvemonth and a day' they have not 'wisht themselves unmarried again'.

The winning couple are carried shoulder-high on the Flitch Chair through Market Place, where they swear the Flitch Oath before being awarded a side of bacon, or a 'flitch'.

As part of the celebrations, the Flitch Trials Committee organised an art competition for all age groups from pre-school to adult.

Participants could produce work on anything to do with love, pigs, The Flitch Trials or marriage.
