Updates have been announced for the RideLondon-Essex 2023 cycling festival, after an extensive period of engagement with the community.
The event will take place on Sunday, May 28, and the route will include Epping, Ongar, Leaden Roding, Great Dunmow, Felsted and Writtle.
Essex County Council and London Marathon Events undertook a review of this year's event to get feedback, meeting with and surveying residents, businesses, councils, stakeholders and participants.
Following the engagement process, they have made enhancements and improvements to the rides, which include no area being impacted by road closures for more than a day.
There will also be improved local access plans for communities across the route, increased provision of managed vehicle crossing points, and additional local drop-in sessions in February for further engagement with residents and businesses.
They also plan to have improved communications with social care providers, an enhanced engagement programme with businesses on the route, and to work with schools and community groups to develop cycling and active travel initiatives.
Cllr Lee Scott, Essex County Council's cabinet member for highways maintenance and sustainable transport, said: "With the changes we’ve put in place, we’re confident of delivering an event which will greatly benefit businesses, residents and communities."
