Great Dunmow's War Memorial is due to be cleaned thanks to a vote from the town council.

In an extraordinary meeting earlier this month, councillors unanimously to support the cleaning of the town's War Memorial to a maximum cost of £2,500.

The council already has a working group, led by Cllr Kay Puddick, which is looking into the restoration and preservation of the War Memorial and is expecting to report findings next year.

The War Memorial is a listed monument in a heritage area, and any work on it is required to ensure it is protected for future generations.
