Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, which is based in Hatfield Peverel, is inviting people to take part in upcoming fundraising activities.

On Sunday, April 14, the charity will be organising a rural ramble and trail run in the Essex countryside, followed by a cream tea.

Rambles cater to all abilities, with participants able to choose from one, four, six or 10-mile routes, or a four, six or 10-mile trail run.

The event starts and ends at Hatfield Place in Hatfield Peverel. All routes will be well sign-posted and longer routes will have water stops along the way manned by volunteers.

The charity is looking for volunteers to help with their various events throughout the year.

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity has also announced the dates for its 2024 coffee mornings.

These are held at the charity's Mid Essex Support Centre, The Street, Hatfield Peverel on March 16, April 20, May 18, June 15, July 20, August 17, September 21 and October 19.

Entrance costs £3 per person which includes tea or coffee and cake, and you can also buy tickets for a raffle at each coffee morning.

When the sun is shining, coffee morning attendees can use the outdoor seating area.

The coffee mornings are intended for people to get to know the centre in an informal setting and find out more about the cancer support services available.

Community fundraiser Gemma Woodhurst said: "All funds raised from our coffee mornings allow us to continue providing support to those living with cancer.

"We are always on the lookout for homemade cakes and would love to receive any donated baked goods for the coffee mornings.

"Baking can be therapeutic while also supporting a good cause."

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is the legacy of BBC broadcaster Helen Rollason, who died in 1999.

The charity's centres offer a range of support and therapies to people whose lives have been affected by cancer.
