Paramedic services at Stansted Airport will continue to be delivered by EEAST.
The East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) has clinched a five-year contract to continue delivering first aid and emergency response service at the UK’s fourth busiest airport.
Medical provision is crucial at Stansted, which welcomed close to 28 million passengers in 2023, marking a bounce back for the airport after the covid-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on the aviation industry.
During the pandemic's peak, EEAST agreed with the airport to put the contract on hold as passenger numbers dipped.
Now, as numbers are predicted to rise, the new contract includes provisions for increased service, commencing from May 1, 2024.
Kate Vaughton, director of integration and deputy chief executive at EEAST, said: "It is great news we will be continuing to provide paramedic services at Stansted Airport.
"To secure the contract after a competitive procurement process is testament to the service we have provided at Stansted Airport over the last six years.
"We look forward to continuing our excellent relationship with Stansted Airport and its operator, Manchester Airport Group."
Service delivery will be stepped up to 24-hour coverage from the current 18 hours during the summer peak period from May to September.
