A highlight of the trip for the students was learning how data travels on a wall-sized mega processor, built by James Newman.
The processor has won a Guinness World Record and took five years to build.
The Centre for Computing History opened at its current site in Cambridge in 2013, and aims to tell the story of the 'Information Age' and the historical, social and cultural impacts of personal computing.
