The Dunmow Art Group will host a talk by former Green Party parliamentary candidate Edward Gildea next week.
The talk will be based on paintings that gave Edward "intriguing insights" into the artist's intentions.
With a degree in the history of art and experience as a headteacher, Edward aims to help attendees truly engage with great works of art.
His talk will include works by Piero de la Francesco, Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Georges de la Tour, Mattia Preti, Millais, and David Hockney.
