There were double celebrations for the Roding clubs in the Mid Essex Cricket League Premier Division - as both won.
Aythorpe Roding picked up only their second win of the season, completing the double over Basildon & Pitsea in the process.
This one was away and by seven wickets and was built on two excellent performances by skipper Rob Hyams and teenager Manith De Silva, who scored 71 not out as well as picking up four wickets.
Fielding first, the Roding bowlers took complete control with only three home batsmen able to get to double figures.
They were all out for 132 with De Silva finishing on 4-21 from his nine overs, ably assisted by two wickets each for Neil Cullerton and Luke Wharton.
De Silva was back to open the batting with Sam Blackman and the pair put on 50 runs for the first wicket with the latter scoring 17.
Hyams then joined De Silva at the crease and a valuable second wicket partnership of 64 runs saw Aythorpe Roding reach 124-2, Hyams eventually run out for 31 but having hit three fours and two sixes.
De Silva stayed until the end and had 11 fours in his final total of 71 not out, the win coming after 24 overs.
Aythorpe Roding travel to Stock on Saturday.
High Roding meanwhile defeated Rettendon away by one wicket.
The home side batted first and made 226 with the bulk of the runs coming from Carl Lees (77).
Sam South took 3-46 and Freddie Welsford-Knightley 3-2, with Kit Morley-Jacob chipping in with 2-35.
Roding's inning started disastrously, losing two wickets in the first over, but Henry Willis (44) and George Halls (88) repaired some of the damage.
However, when Wills departed, it signalled a bit of a slump and they went from 134-3 to 221-9.
But with two balls left of the final overs Morley-Jacob, playing his first game of the season, hit a six to win the match.
This leaves Roding fifth in the league with leaders Noak Hill up next at The Meadow.
The seconds also had an impressive win against Rettendon, this one at home.
They won the toss and put the away side into bat, watching them get to 213-8 with Muharram Shamin taking 2-47 and Adrian Nelson 2-41.
All Rodings batsmen then scored double figures to win the match by seven wickets.
Jon Murphy got 28, Tahir Khan 29 and George Haddon 50 before Harry Pilcher (62*) and Muhammad Adele Abbas (34*) got them over the line.
The thirds also won for the third game in a row away to Cloghams.
After winning the toss and putting the home side into bat George Welland and Stanley-Bellieu-Clarke both took three wickets to leave Cloghams on 123-8 in a rain-restricted 35 overs.
Roding did lose early wickets but Biju Nair 31 and Ollie Hart 29 put them on the road to recovery.
Paul Welland then scored a well constructed 26 not out to win the match.
Not to be outdone the women’s team also won two trophies at the Essex Ladies Softball Competition.
