It has been a great 2023 for Dunmow TKD so it was rather fitting that their final competition of the year would bring more success.
The British Championships were held at the University of Worcester Arena and the taekwondo club had 25 of their students among the 1,200 competitors.
They also maintained their record of medalling at every competition entered.
Star of the day was nine-year-old Alyse Dixon-Bellot.
She won gold in her sparring division to complete a full set of golds won at national competitions - making her English, Welsh, Scottish, British and world champion.
Along with sister Ariella, 10, the siblings have won 23 medals this year, making the 2,000 plus miles travelled by parents Lorna and Antoinne more than worthwhile.
Ariella won another sparring medal here, a silver, which was a prize also claimed by Ruby Pegrum (14) and Albie Goodey (seven).
Daley Goodey (seven), Erin Hurst (10) and Bryony Arnold (46) also came away with bronzes.
Even 54-year-old instructor Matt Howard dusted off his kit for his first competitive bout in five years.
He said: "This was a tough but thoroughly enjoyable competition at one of my favourite venues and was a great way to end the year.
"I don't think Alyse's achievement can be understated, it's truly remarkable, but I'm proud of every single one of our students that took part in any of the competitions this year, plus the family that took and supported them.
"It is down to their hard work and enthusiasm that we have been nominated for sports club of the year by Active Essex.
"Cheryl and I are going to enjoy the upcoming Christmas break and plan toward to further success in 2024."
