A former Felsted School head girl has been named in the Welsh netball squad for the Celtic Cup.
Poppy Tydeman will play in the inaugural running of the event at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow where Wales will play against Scotland, Northern Ireland and Zimbabwe where she hopes to gain her first international cap.
She was at the school between 2009 and 2021 and became the youngest player to play first team senior netball for the school.
The Great Dunmow native was mentored at Felsted by former England Rose and current director of netball at Felsted, Lindsay Keable.
Poppy quickly progressed through the county ranks before sealing a place in the Saracens Mavericks U15 academy.
From there she moved into the U17s and then the U19s, playing in the National Performance League, before moving to Team Bath's U21 NPL side.
She continues to play for Team Bath in the U23 squad, part of the new NXT Gen League.
The Celtic Cup runs Friday to Sunday in a round-robin format first of all with the finals being held on the last day.
The tournament has been created by Netball Northern Ireland, Netball Scotland, and Wales Netball to provide the best competitive tournament for athletes and spectators alike outside of the World Cup and Commonwealth Games.
It is intended that the competition will grow in the coming years to include more invitational teams.
